Hydrangeas
Why this plant is so interesting
The genus Hydrangea (Hydrangea) is a woody, easily bushy, voluminous perennial native to the American continent and Asia, including the mountain forests of China, Japan, and Indonesia.
It was named by the French-born naturalist Philibert Commerson in 1771.
In 1788, a large, barren flowering variety of hydrangea came to Europe, but it spread and became established in most countries at the end of the 19th century.
But what is special in this beautiful plant
You can see hydrangea in most various colors from pink to violet, white, etc. Blue as well.
But… Did you know, that if you see the blue hydrangea it is not even blue? It is pink.
WHAT pwhnc
Yes, there is no blue hydrangea, only pink ones turn to blue because of the soil acidity.
How to change color from pink to blue
Hydrangeas change color (except for the white ones) based on the pH level of their soil. The more alkaline the soil, the pinker the flowers. To make pink hydrangeas turn blue (or to keep your blue ones from turning pink), increase the acidity of soil.
